Police mentioned they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack made him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
