The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
