Golf England Calls for Government Backing for 2030 Solheim Cup Bid
The last Solheim Cup held on European soil took place in Spain in 2023, while the upcoming tournament scheduled for Holland four years from now.
Following Europe's recent men's golf championship victory, the national golf association is calling on UK authorities to guarantee its bid to stage the premier women's golf event on English soil for the first time.
This prestigious contest pitting the best women players from Europe and the United States has been held on two occasions in Scotland and in Wales but never in England. An official proposal has been prepared to organize it at the Grove venue in Hertfordshire in 2030.
But organizers require thirty million pounds to back the bid and at present only £10m is in place. The organizing body is pressing for public backing to guarantee the funding gap.
Financial Requirements and Timeline
Discussions to acquire government support commenced earlier this year but a decision regarding if backing will be granted is required quickly. The hosting rights for the 2030 match are owned by IMG who require an answer before month's end.
According to the official documentation, the organizing committee believes that winning the hosting rights "offers huge value for the country".

Financial Details
To organize the men's equivalent on European soil needs over four hundred million pounds while for the Solheim Cup the cost is approximately thirty million pounds.
"We're looking for circa £20m from the government to support the bid," the spokesperson confirmed.
"And that's in addition to existing substantial funding from the host location and England Golf including additional sponsors we plan to put money in."
Time Sensitivity
The representative refused to say that talks have reached an impasse, but acknowledged: "There is definitely a quandary at the moment regarding if the Treasury can fund such tournaments."
"Previous examples demonstrate, whether it be international sports, whether it be from the women's rugby perspective, that they are willing to invest public money for specific tournaments."
"I believe should we receive favorable response within the next month, we could to obtain the hosting rights to be staged in England."
He concluded: "I don't have the funding at present; the hosting attempt stalls. This could alter tomorrow should we receive approval, but it really is time-sensitive."
Official Stance
