19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
