The Actress States Discussing Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ Dividing the Country Apart

Lawrence has expressed that she no longer feels suitable to voice opinions regarding the Trump government, worried it could worsen polarizing arguments and increase separation within the United States.

‘I Don’t Really Know If I Should’, Says Jennifer Lawrence

Speaking with media, she shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, election after election, Hollywood stars fail to influence whatsoever on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on an issue that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the nation apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Jennifer Lawrence has admitted freely about supporting conservative and liberal presidential nominees in past elections. Growing up with Republican parents in her home state, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democrats and explaining she recognized during the Obama era that backing conservatives was opposing her individual liberties as a woman.

Previous Comments

In 2015, she stated that Trump winning the presidency could represent “a disaster” and publicly supported Joe Biden in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “because I feel she’s a strong contender and I know that she will make every effort to safeguard women’s health rights.”

Celebrity Views

Lawrence was supported by many in the entertainment industry in her rejection of Donald Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the public choices was highlighted by his election win.

“The second term seems distinct,” noted Lawrence about his administration. “Since he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was transparent. And that’s the option selected.”

New Release

Jennifer Lawrence is discussing Die, My Love, Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she stars as a recent parent who deals with her emotional state in rural Montana. At a media event for the movie in Venice, she commented on the situation in the Middle East: “It’s frightening. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is no less than a genocide and it’s terrible.”

Additional Thoughts

The actress elaborated by stating that she was disappointed by “the lack of civility in the discourse of the political landscape at present and how that is going to be normalised to the children now. It’s going to be standard to them that politicians lie.”

Lawrence aimed to shift frustration about the situation to decision-makers rather than celebrities. “Concentrate on those accountable,” she advised, in what many took to be a nod to the recent commitment signed by numerous entertainment industry figures to refuse engagement with specific industry bodies.

Personal Connections

Lawrence, who received an Academy Award aged 22 for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, is attracting awards attention for her work in the new film. Although Lynne Ramsay has disputed the story being interpreted as one of post-birth struggles and mental illness, she said that she did relate to elements of her role’s experience after the birth of her second son, soon after shooting ended.

“I felt anxiety about my child,” she said, “just picturing every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a treatment called Zurzuvae and I continued it for 14 days and it made a difference.”

Career Moments

The actor also spoke of the freeing requirement of filming without clothes in the movie while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“It feels nice,” she commented, regarding the need to cast off vanity. “I mean, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
