The rising star maintains substantial social media following
Kai Trump can count on plenty of prominent backers as she starts her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is related to a former US president, was granted a special exemption to participate at the Annika tournament in Florida.
Her grandfather, an avid golfer, possesses multiple golf courses and regularly competes against Kai.
"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we play competitive games," she stated.
Kai explained that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He practically suggested to compete and enjoy myself," she added.
"In my eyes, he's simply an ordinary family member. He can't make it this weekend. He's busy with world affairs, making him rather occupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has played in a mere three competitions recently and maintains position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
However she's able to receive tips from golf legend, who is dating Vanessa.
"He stands as the top athlete globally," the young golfer said.
"Furthermore, he's a more impressive human being. He suggested me to compete, enjoy myself, and go with whatever happens."
The golfer will compete against several the biggest names in women's golf at this tournament, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Tournament organizers commented that Kai's presence brings golf to different demographics, particularly with younger fans.
The young star boasts substantial online presence and has started an exclusive fashion and living label.
She begins at 17:30 GMT.
