Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Demo: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered a variety of engaging independent titles. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is actually a turd trying to travel to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty levels, encounter tough enemies and visit a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one mistake forces beginning again. Bounce on bubbles to launch the poop to new heights, cross fragile surfaces, and touch buttons to unlock secret routes. Gather coins and use them on more difficult game content where gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo boasts eye-catching environments and catchy background music. The retro visual style featuring shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of similar titles where you control a dung character, video games often incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references appears heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, like winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam this November.
